E: Groove Diggerz – LFO
Groove Diggerz return to action with their best single to date. From
their new album ‘Money For Good Times’ Funky Heroes
is about to explode onto a radio station near you, with its complex
production, low slung grooves and the Diggerz trademark Funky B-Lines
this track is a real winner.
Backed up on remix duties by 2008 Breakspoll Breakthrough DJ Plaza De
Funk who gives us a main room, peak time version, this is a big track,
the Italian stallion does it again!!
We are pleased to welcome DJ Adsorb to the Breakin Even stables, Adsorb
who was nominated for Breakthrough DJ at this years breakspoll awards
and has had a string of great releases out over the last year, his
remix…again, peak time slamming stuff from the Brighton
based DJ/Producer.
Next up are Fidget /Electro House boys – Signal Drivers, this
time joined by Philly Blunt, they turn out a cool jackin house version
of the Funky Heroes, this’ll really get your head bumpin, a
really sweet mix for the house heads.
And finally a bonus Groove Diggerz track ‘LFO’
originally made for their new album ‘Money For Good
Times’ but it didn’t quite fit with the overall
feel of the album, but we love it so we’re gonna release it
anyway.
Really like the ‘funky heroes’ tune. Signal drivers
mix works well in the mix.” Andy
Gardner (Plump DJ's)
“Original sounds great!!! and the Plaza Rmx is
chunky as 3 Snickers melted together. NICE!” Nick
Thayer
“Im into The original Funky Heroes mix also the
plaza de funk and absorb mixes I’ll be dropping them
all” Leeroy Thornhill (Prodigy)
“I like LFO – nice groove and very
original. Cheers” ]Jem Stone (Soul Of Man)
“Like this!!! LFO and Plaza mix for me!”
General Midi
“Really lovin the plaza remix on
this one full mofo and beat assassins support
keep em coming - uber hot tunes from the BE camp” Beat
Assasins
“Original is a wicked track! Plaza's mix
is good but not my thing. Good
big room bassline in Adsorb's reworking! Also LFO is a tasty jacking
number” Bob Kickflip

|
Rob,
tell me about the
members of Groove Diggerz?
Well there's me on the Music and
Production side of things, with a bit of help from Reuben Pearce, but
he had a
baby a while back and with another one on the way he's stepped out of
the game
for a while, but I'm sure he'll be back sooner or later. Then there's
Ronnie
Black, one of my oldest friends and soon to be best man at my
wedding!!!
He sometimes runs the mic at DJ gigs and stuff, he's done a
few other
bits and bobs as well including recording with the Dub Pistols.
Then there's Princess Jewels
(My favourite singer in the world...) She has her own band 'Jewels and
the
Jaccuzzis’ which is a ska, reggae, rock style band who
currently have a
residency at the Pitcher and Piano in Reading, they're doing really
well.
Newest recruit AKA-Fella (Jay
Duggan) used to be a garage MC in and around London, we met on New
Years Eve and haven't
stopped writing since!!!
Then there's a lot of guest
singers I'm working with like Lindy Layton (Beats International),
Sophie Barker
(Zero 7) and MC Manic (Freefall Collective)
How
did you meet Lindy Layton?
I had a management deal with
Cut La Roc and he put us in touch, I'm so pleased to have had the
chance to
work with her, she's a star, and very lovely with it!
Having
five singers
including yourself on the album give you a great spektrum of sound. Did
you
have trouble getting it all to work together?
That was the beauty with this
album, we normally work with one singer at a time so say Ronnie would
come to
the studio and do this little bit, then Jewels the next day, then Jay
etc etc,
then I will chop it all up and make it work at the right time in the
right
place.
Any
unusual sound or
intruments used in the recording of any particular track?
Not really unusual, lots of
live guitar, live bass and drum tracks, the rhodes
(which is my favourite instrument just incase you hadn't noticed!!!)
loads of
strings, then the rest programmed really,
Are
you going to make a music video?
It
would be nice to see Lindy in the flesh again. That's the plan. We're
currently looking for someone to work with us on
all the tracks as it's great to have videos these days with things like
youtube
and facebook, it really gives your tunes an edge I think.
What’s
next on the agenda of Groove Diggerz
and Breakin Even?
Groove Diggerz are gonna have
a bit of time out on the production side of things, maybe do a few
remixes and
DJ gigs, but for Breakin Even it's Go Go Go, we've just split the label
into 3,
so lots of different stuff coming your way soon.
I
see there are some new
offshoot labels have cropped up. Tell me about them.
The 1st is the original
Breakin Even Records which is now called B.E.Breaks, which will carry
on where
Breakin Even Records left off, so it will release pure dancefloor
music, mainly
Breakbeat, Electro, Techno. Then there's the new label B.E.Deep which
is
already on its 4th release and features artists like GrandSon and Vital
Substance, this label will release anything so long as it's deep, so
anything
ranging from downtempo chill out to deep house to deep drum and bass,
anything
that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention.
And last but not least is
B.E.Music which will be a bit more commercial, proper songs, proper
songwriters, a bit urban stylee, watch this space.........
Describe
your musical
style?
It ranges through a massive
spectrum of different styles to be honest, we try and make each track
different
so we don't get pigeon holed into just one genre, we have so many
influences in
the 'Diggerz' and I think that rubs off on the tracks | 0 Comment(s) | Just Be Good To Me - itunes Essential track

Groove Diggerz – “Just Be Good To Me” features on itunes Dance Essentials Album
Dance Today - Various Artists [itunes]
Released: April 2009
“Anything is possible in the late -‘00s of clubland. With music’s archives stretching back into the seemingly bottomless past, every track ripe for a remix and technology offering the keys to endless original mutations, today’s beat-masters and mash meisters are on a roll. Celebrate the best of them here, as Velvet’s “Fix Me” shares a throbbing techno blow-back with Madonna’s Oakenfolded “Give it 2 Me”, and of course Groove Diggerz new cover of “Just Be Good To Me” featuring Lindy Layton from the 90 version with Beats International.”
